Whether it feels like fall in your neck of the woods, the calendar clearly tells us that fall official begins September 22nd––in oh, what one day? Let's be honest: some of us are shouting for joy at the thought of sweater-weather and boots; others of us are still mourning the end of beloved summer with all her golden glory; and others feel a more mild "this happens every year" sentiment.
I, personally, sway between each category depending on the day. It's a roller coaster of, "I miss sandals!" and "Pumpkin is the best baking ingredient" to "Fall means winter is...coming." And winter, that's a real thing.
But for now, in the form of visual inspiration, we pause to acknowledge fall's arrival. We consider the wonder (and many, many, many baked goods) she will gift us with. And we dread her departure. Consider the following as we prepare ourselves for the official turn of seasons (and reckoning with the reality that we have absolutely no control over them...)
Leaves. Many many leaves. The ones that crunch beneath your favorite boots as you peruse the neighborhood just before dusk. Their radiant hues may be evidence that they are dying, but it don't matter.
Cozy socks. Need I say more? When the air is brisk, my toes love nothing more than cozy socks. The thicker, the chunkier, the softer––the better.
Pumpkin. Really, this category is endless––pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin roll, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin bread, pumpkin.... that's actually all I have. But pumpkin is a flavor I favor in the fall months, and it doesn't disappoint.
